Ready for some great merengues? Here are our favorites:

1) "Pintame" by Elvis Crespo (the whole CD is excellent, but the first track is the best)

2)"Suavamente" by Elvis Crespo (another great CD. the first track starts like a middle eastern piece of music but is a great merengue)

3)"Hot, Hot, Hot" by Buster Poindexter (well known - almost all DJ's have a copy of this and most bands play it).

4)"Come baby come by Elvis Crespo and Gizelle D'ecole (track 10 on the sound track from the movie "Center Stage")

5)"Tu te lo Pierdes" (track 5 on the Olga Tanon's CD "Yo Por Ti"-this is one of the best with a fabulous sound and a great beat)

6)Merenhits 2000- a great collection of merengues-our favorites are tracks 1,2,3(pintame) and 4. available from www.dancevision.com

7)Merenhits 2003- another great CD with the latest merengue sounds. available from

8)"Voulez-vous Coucher Avec Moi" by Lady Marmalade on various CD's by various artists. It can be found on "Latin Music Takes Control" produced by Dancelife.

9)"Chili Cha Cha" by various artists

10)Pais Tropical" CD produced by Latin Unlimited. 4 cha-cha's with a softer sound but still up to date - also includes rhumbas, sambas and jive. It can be ordered from www.danceplus.com.

11)"Let's Get Loud" by various artists - on "Latin Music 2" CD which also has 3 other cha-cha's and sambas, jives and rhumbas; and also has five practice tracks (all Latin with a slower beat). It can be ordered from www.danceplus.com.

12) "Get The Party Started" by various artists on "Latin Music 4", which also has rhumbas, sambas, jives and practice tracks (slower music). It can be ordered from www.danceplus.com.


West Coast Night Club Two Step

Here are some our favorite songs and CD's for dancing West Coast Night Club Two-Step:

1) "I Love Me Some Him" by Tony Braxton on her "Secrets" CD. tracks 9 and 10 are also good.

2) "By Your Side" by Sade on her "Sade Lovers Rock" CD

3) "Think About You" by Luther Vandross on his "Dance With My Father" CD

4) "Gimme All Your Lovin' or I Will Kill You" by Macy Gray on her CD "The Id"

5) "I Wanna Be Your Underwear" by Bryan Adams on his "18 'Til I Die" CD (This is a great CD with both fast and slow swings and even a slow Viennese waltz- "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman".

6) "Video" by India Arie on her "Acoustic Soul" CD.

7) "Best of Yuko Yamaguchi" a CD by a Japanese singer that has seven or eight of the first 10 songs that are great for this dance. You have to track this one down on the internet but it is worth it if you can find it. There is also a good practice quickstep and some swings.

8) "Step In The Name of Love-Remix" (track 13 - Great rhythm and blues up-tempo song) by R. Kelly on his great CD "Chocolate Factory". Track 9, "Forever More" is slower and also very good.

9) "Don't Know Why" (track 1-fast) and "Shoot the Moon" (track 6-slow) by Norah Jones on her CD "Come away with me"

1)"I Love Me Some Him" by Tony Braxton on her "Secrets" CD. tracks 9 and 10 are also good.


Tango Music

1) Tango Jack on "Fabuloso" Volume II-American Style Rhythm and Smooth-from Dancevision.com.

2) Santa Maria by Gotan Project on "Shall We Dance" CD-great slow American style tango or argentine tango.

3) Hernando's Hideaway by numerous groups.

4) La Cumpasita by many groups-one of the all time great tangos-American or international style tango can be danced to this song.

5) Any of the tangos on the following CD's which can be purchased from Danceplus.com: Ballroom Magic, Ballroom Desire, Ballroom Fantasy, Ballroom Emotion. All of the Tangos (usually three on one CD) are excellent to dance American or international style tango. In addition, each of these CD's have three or four good to excellent waltzes foxtrots, quicksteps and Viennese waltzes.

6) "I believe"-track number 11 on Chartbreaker Volume 3-we refer to this tango as our "hustle tango". it takes a pop song and gives it a tango beat but has a hustle flavor. The CD can be ordered from Danceplus.com.

7) The best of ballroom music, Volume 4 produced by Casa Musica has three excellent tangos: "El Chocolo" by Nat King Cole, "Please Mr. Brown" (very funny words-the dangers of women dancing the tango with men) and "Ecstasy" (tracks 4,5,6). can be ordered from Danceplus.com

8) "Dance with me" by Debelah Morgan on her CD of the same name. although a little slow, great contemporary beat. amazon.com

9) "The Ballroom Mix" produced by casa musica is a two CD set with 8 very good tangos on it. In addition, there are 10 waltzes, 8 foxtrots, 7 quicksteps and 8 Viennese waltzes- a great investment if you like smooth dancing.-also available from danceplus.com

10) "Tango Cafe"-Very good CD for Argentine Tango-available from dancevision.com.
